ohhh—wild

My first slider card.  I used the new Jungle Friends kit from MFT.  it’s got these great slider discs and dies for making THE cutestet cards.  i had so much fun with this.  i know this kit is going to produce a lot of fun cards.

MFT Goodness, oh my goodness

julie's elepahant   THIS card from Julie using the new MFT Jungle kit inspired me.

I like the frame within the frame.  I like the hearts partial background paper.  I used a scrap of cork paper (what was i thinking when i bought that pack)  for my partial back ground and then built from there.  Using the papers from the kit i added touches of pumice stone distress ink to them to get them the color i wanted.  OUCH, it hurts to cut into a full piece of paper just for the ear.  I decided to do as the sample and make the “grassy hill” out of the same paper so i didn’t feel so bad. I used sequins for the spray from his trunk and made a rectangle card instead of a square.  i used a red copic to color the large sequin on the tag.  The sequins are also from a MFT die.  I get a lot of use out of those sequins dies.  I’m glad i purchased them a while back.

I think i’m going to have lots of fun with this kit.  It had a lot of things in it.  I’m very pleased.

Interesting

This is an interesting card I made for the Rudolph Challenge you can click HERE to see what that’s all about.  Very fun.  This started out so very different, ah well….the tale of a stampers life.   So this shiny gold card is what i ended up with.  I used some snowflake dies to emboss a piece of gold foil paper i had as a scrap.  Then i used another scrap of it to die cut the sentiment.  Ha Ha, yes i said GOLD and in real life it surely is but when i took a picture of it it came out silver.  After I made the card, i thought, hey, this would be pretty in silver also.   So there you have it two cards, gold and silver and only made one.   ha ha.    i know, i laugh at my own jokes too.  Thanks for stopping by.     Thanks to my friend Princess Judy who inspires me with all kinds of blogs that have challenges for Christmas. I like using mettalic papers.

Stamp 463 Taylored Expressions

Here’s a cute little card for a day like today.  It’s rained a beautiful soft and gentle rain all day.  It IS April after all.  It sure greened things up.  I think these little boots stamps and dies are so cute.

Stamp 462 Hero Arts

Simon’s Wednesday Challenge is making it girlie.  I love black and white ribbon for spring cards and have been wanting to pair some pink and this ribbon.  I made a sweet little border with Hero Arts CL578 but don’t see any other names on the set.  The sentiment is also Hero Arts using CL 1810.  It feels good to get some of these grad cards made ahead of time.

Thanks Simon for the ideas.

Merry Monday

Playing in Merry Monday’s purple, silver and white Christmas challenge but the linky is already closed.  Sad smile  That’s okay.  It’s good to build up the stock so i can play with other things in December cuz i get tired of making all my holiday cards at one time.   For the touch of silver i embossed the sentiment onto the little tag.  simple and delightful.  and DONE!  Smile  Red heart

Stamp 461–butterflies

Okay, that’s confusing.  The unused stamp i chose is the little flower one on a sheet of sentiments from  Hero Arts.  I made a pattern with it on the top butterfly.  The other two butterflies are stamped with some very old stampin up background stamps.  The big U and sentiment are from “My Sentiments Exactly” .I jumped into the Monday Challenge with Simon Says to get me a little mojo going.  Graduations are coming up and every year I am surprised with how many announcements we get.  I always think we’re done but it’s never done.  ha ha.

It’s been too long out of the stamp room and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon.  I’m not complaining.  Grateful I can be of help where needed.  I spent this rainy day napping instead of stamping and it was a good choice.

If anyone wants to send a card to Laurel Shipton who is now paralyzed from the chest down here is the address.  She loves the bright spot that mail brings her day. Laurel Shipton – 109 W Larch St Stratford, WI 54484  Thanks in advance for anyone who has the time to share a card.

Taylored Expressions Dies and Stamp #459, #460, #461

Oh it’s so fun to play with ink and paper again.  A week or so ago I was able to stop at the Stamp Shoppe in Weston and do a make and take with Taylored Expressions.  I had to purchase a couple of their fun stamps and dies.  I got a free one too, what’s better than that?

I love how this Hello die can be used in the middle of the card stock or cutting it on the edge of the paper would give you the die cut to glue down .  I inserted a scrap of some patterened paper behind the cut out word.  It was fun to make this little tag with the clouds and use the cute pattern stamps to design the clouds. I did some faux stitching across the top of the tag and used a MFT scallop stencil to give the idea of rain drops for the background. I am entering this into Word Art Wednesday #226 & #227  ~~~~A side note.  I was so happy to find out why my Live Writer account wasn’t working anymore.  It seems it needed a new down load to support Blogger.  If you were using Live Writer and didn’t get the notice about this you can download it here and you should now be able to connect to blogger again.  This makes me so very very happy.  Smile   Thanks for stopping by.

LIFE takes over and Stamps 548 & 549

LIFE responsibilities have definitely taken over for a bit here.  I was wondering if I remembered HOW to make a card.  I needed twin cards for my darling great nephews first birthday. my neice- Grandma Laurel got to come home from the hospital in time to celebrate their birthdays.  She is paralyzed from the chest down because of a drunk driver.  she has the most wonderful spirit and it has been a pleasure helping her.

It was fun to use these Whipper Snapper stamps for the first time.  I bought them at a rummage for $1.00 a piece last summer.  This is the first I have used them.  I will enter these cards as a single entry into Word Art Wednesday #226 &#227
Using my Spellbinders double sided embossing folder on core-dinations paper i embossed and then sanded coordinating card stock.  Corner punched them for some added fun and then layered in off set pattern.  I learned the sentiment trick from Heidi at the Stamp Shoppe in Weston.  You use tape to cover the white portions of the tags.  sponge and then peel off the tape for a ribbon like look.

this piggy went to market Stamps 546 & 547

Simon's Wednesday challenge was to use Happy Birthday and if we had them, Simon's Exclusive products.  I have combined four different Simon Exclusive products.  Three Stamp sets and the hearts die.  I am having a laugh at how fun this turned out.  It is for my niece who shares a birthday with me.  She was induced to be born and her parents chose my birthday on purpose.  It is quite the honor and she is a beautiful young lady.  Happy Birthday Elisabeth!  and Happy 7th Birthday to Simon Says Stamps.  It takes a lot to keep a business going in today's age.  Stop by and wish them a Happy Birthday.

Aren't the forks along the side of this just a hoot???

Emboss Resist

This technique always makes me smile because it's like magic.  Simon's Monday challenge is all about emboss resist.  I used Tim Holtz flowers stamped with versa mark and covered with clear embossing powder on a semi-glossy paper.  Using my stencils i stenciled with two different stencils and three different Ranger mini distress inks.  I used Tim Holtz stickers for the sentiments to make a beautiful sympathy card.

Using negative die cut

For these two cards I had saved the negative spaces of the My Favorite things die.  I just can't seem to throw them away.  Anyone else feel my pain????

I'm glad I didn't as they turned into some pretty cool cards.  The one with the heart was supposed to be for a SSS challenge but i never got it posted in time.

I am home recovering from the flu and don't want to take it to the hospital so figured today would be a good day to stamp and blog.

Thanks for stopping by.
