A card just because….

IMG_0355

Sometimes you have to make a card just because….not for any special reason and then that moment happens when someone you know needs this card and voila` it’s already made.   Such was this card.  I had a sketch from GKD that I wanted to use, it’s an old one from 2011.  I like keeping my sketches in a file and then just grabbing one and see what I can do with it.

I’ve challenged myself to do more mixing of designer papers on my cards.  It’s not an easy thing for me.   But when it works, I have a great sense of creativity.  Now I have to analyze “why” it works.   So here’s my thoughts.  The colors all blend is the most obvious.  Then, the chevron pattern embossed into the green carries the points of the plaid which almost has a chevron look in the darker green colors.  Next, the ribbon, it carries the pink of the flowers in the stamped image and the bike.  Then it has white circles stamped on it which carries the white circle the image is stamped on and the bicycle tires.  And the paper buttons from Creative Memories?  They are circular too and I used scraps of ribbon to tie all the colors together.   and so we have a “just because” card.    I’m smiling!   The sentiment is from Mark’s Finest Papers a Heinrich Company.  “pussy willows 2011”  Because it is an acrylic stamp I was able to bend it into a circular shape and add a bit of movement to the otherwise kind of life-less image.  Yep, some stamps, even though I like them, look kind of “dead” when stamped.

  1. So springy and cheerful! I've been tempted to do a card just because just to get me crafting again, but we'll see! I forget I am crafting when I work on my PL spreads!

  2. What a fun card! Love the greens!!!! Don't you just love the ability to bend a clear stamp?! Pretty font on the sentiment too! You did a great job on mixing patterns of DP. The ribbons is wonderful and it lends movement to me with the circles! Terrific card!
