new toys

I got some new toys.  Betty’s Creative Studio has Tim Holtz stencils on sale.  I have been drooling over these since forever and only ever purchased one.  What deal, I had to get several.
I used the burlap stencil as my background for this card and also cut the edge with my new curved edge Simon Says die.  I knew I would love that little tool.  I used a cream cardstock to apply the Pumice Stone Distress ink with a sponge.
Now working with SusanLouise transparency, I set to work.  First step was to trim the transparency from the sheet they come on.  I trimmed this one to 3.25 square.  I cut the piece of patterned paper the same size. Next step, find two Spellbinder square dies to cut a frame.  Glue them all together on the edges being careful that adhesive doesn’t of past the frame line.  Using a Spellbinders banner label die for the sentiment, I cut and embossed it and then shadowed it with some more of the Pumice Stone ink.  The rawhide seemed the perfect touch rather than a ribbon.  Before gluing the transparency down I used a scor-tool to trace the curved lines along the edge and used a brown distress marker to make it look like stitching.  I used foam tape all over the back of the transparency and frame and popped the entire piece up for a bit of dimension.  I added the sentiment banner and my Viva Pearl pen to give it a finishing touch.  In real life, this card looks fabulous.  I am so happy I found SusanLouise art images.  They really add an elegance to your card making.
