just one more

Another stenciled back panel.  This time I used MFT’s bricks and ran that stencil through the Big Shot and used Pumice Stone distress ink to add a bit of shading to the stenciled marks.

I did want to try that yellow and gray theme.  Since i didn’t want to fussy cut another flower and leaves out I grabbed my MFT scroll and leaf die and added those.  That corner looked a little bare and a couple of MFT blueprint banners worked out nice, cut from scraps.

Non-traditional color

Still playing with my Altenew.  I think i am in love.  I used a Crafting Workshop stencil and ran it through my Big Shot for some dry embossing and then i used ink to sponge through the stencil.  Double Embossed.  Such a pretty look.  Next i stamped my Altenew Painted Rose three times in two different color combos and fussy cut them and the leaves (my dies are coming)  I wasn’t sure i would like the look of the gray roses but i felt compelled to try it.  I do love the look with the pink and it would look good with a soft yellow also I’m thinking.  or yellow roses on a gray embossed background.  Maybe that will be my next one.  Thanks for stopping by.

more stencil fun

Another card for the Simon Monday Challenge. For this one I used a card from Yoonson Hur as my inspiration.  I wanted to make it a bit different from hers and I used my Altenew stencil that was just released and also a Tim Holtz stencil over that.  The Altenew flower is stamped in three colors.  Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber.  The leaves were various greens from Altenew Crisp Inks which i love love love.  The sentiment is from Simon; a Kristina Werner stamp set.  I used some My Mind’s Eye enamel dots for embellishment.  I love how simple it is to create a beautiful card with the Altenew stamps.

How fun

Simon’s Monday Challenge is using Stencils.  I love my stencils.  This time though I took my little doily die from Top Dog dies and used it as a stencil.

I used some matte embossing paste to smear over the die cut.  Let it dry and then inked up the little images with some very light handed peacock feathers distress ink.

I had seen Vicky P do that on a recent video and thought the intricate little edges were so sweet.  Something that sweet needed this unused Door County Kids stamp to go with it. I added some dots for movement with my favorite Judith stamp stick and the sentiment is from Unity.  I smeared the bottom with a bit of ink and that is why I cut the little piece and put it over the word Friend.  I kind of like the look though.

A little bit of patriotic colors added and I think it turned out so adorable.

Free Altenew

It’s always fun to win.  I won a $30 gift certificate to Altenew.  I’m so glad because I was wanting this Ranunculus stamp and die and it was so fun to get it for almost free. It stamps beautifully.  I guess in real life this flower can be any color at all.  I started out with pink but watch for it coming soon in many other colors and designs.  It’s HUGE though and I’m going to have to put my thinking cap on for ways to use it.

MFT Sketch 338

Would someone please send us some nice weather?  It surely doesn’t seem like summer in the northern highlands ofWisconsin.  It’s typical I guess.  I just never get used to it.  One nice day and followed with 3-4 days of cold, wet, windy.  It makes for good stamping time though.  Can’t enjoy much else and i am very glad for my craft room.

I’m running out of ideas though with so much stamping time coming my way.  The MFT Sketch Challenge is always a fun event.  I turned my card into a square because I have been wanting to use these notebook paper edge dies.

M is for More than one

This little duo of singers is the cutest stamp to me.  It’s a Prickley Pear rubber stamp.  It’s not what i had in mind when i started this card but it ended up okay.  Before I mail it out i will probably go back in and put an outline around the children.  They will stand out more.  I have put them in their home already now and I will have to do that when I pull the stack out again the next time.  Don’t you love their little cotton ball pom poms?

L is for LOVE

At ABC Christmas Challenge L is for LOVE.  The greates love of all in my opinion is that of our Lord coming to this earth.

I used two different stamps for this depcition.  I masked and inked a partial wooden stamp of the wise ment and then the manger stamp is a Unitiy stamp.  I made this background the other day and when I decided to use the manger set this piece of water coloring seemed the best choice .

THanks for stopping by.  I’m so excited to have 40 Christmas cards stamped inside and out ready for the season.  Thanks peeps over at ABC for the inspirational push.

testing

Don’t you just love it when you have an idea and it TURNS OUT?!!  I saw a picture of an all white painted bicycle in a flower garden with a basket of flowers on it.  This stamp from Unity was just made for this card.  I stamped the bike first in white embossing ink and then embossed with bright white embossing powder.  Next I masked a framed space with painters tape.  I stamped the grass and flower stamp (Penny Black) then i took my White Pigment distress marker and filled in the bike to look like white chalk paint.  Then I masked a horizontal line for my sky and grass colors.  Colored in the flowers with some sparkly pens added some Nuvo drops and there you have it.  Just the look i was going for.

Scallops

This type of scallop border always reminds me of my friend Princess Judy. She does this technique often and it always makes me say  “I should do that more often.”  Well, i chose a goofy card to put scallops on, i mean a Pizza card???  But I loved the colors of the patterened papers and they reminded me of this sweet pizza stamp set that Simon Says sent me for my birthday.  They are just cool like that.  It’s the first time it’s seen ink and i think it is sooooooo cute. And yes, that stamp set does include that teeny tiny mushroom, pepper, olive and onion.  ha ha. Nyah-Nyah

it’s sad

I’ve been pretty diligent about “clean” stamping.  Putting things away as I use them and yet, i still seem to lose sentinment stamps.  Another Birthday one, lost.  Who knows when and where it will show up.  And today, I was stamping with letters.  I peeled off the letter S and Gilbert walked in to give me some root beer and when I went back to my card, the S was missing.  Zilch, gone, nada.  Where is it?  I went and looked at his root beer bottle since it was a new kind and i held it to look at the label. Nope, not on the floor, not on anything anywhere that I can see.  I didn’t want to scrap the card and i filled in the S by hand.  I will give this to someone who i know won’t care about that, but WHERE is my S?

Bonus Camp Project

MFT Camp Create threw a surprise at us.  A bonus project to include dry embossing with dies. I always love this technique as i think it’s so elegant.  I decided to make a card that can be a wedding card or anniversary. It was easy using my BluePrints 4 dies.  A simple sentiment die cut from Whimsy I think.

New Sketch Challenge

Altenew is rather a new company to me and I am in love with their beautiful layering stamps.  Elegant flowers made easy with their layering process.  I am also in love with their Crisp Inks.  Amazing coverage.

I went poking around on their blog and found this sketch challenge for a scrap book page and it says you can enter any project so i made it my own by scaling it down from square to rectangle and also card size.  I love how it accidentally turned out.  The little rub ons are from Cloud 9 Design and were a gift from my daughter. Just to be clear, this is taken against a black backgroun it is not part of the layout.  I used my Painted Rose set from Altenew and did an inlaid pierced heart with my Spell Binders dies.  Isn’t it pretty? happy sigh!!

Day 5 Camp Create

The dreaded GLITTER day.  Always a mess, right?  Did you know if you use a cheap swiffer type cloth you can grab all that stray glitter and throw it into the trash?  What a great tip.

I used my Wild Flowers set and the sentiment die from MFT for this creation.  Before adhering everything together, I thought the card base looked a bit drab and I found my lattice shaped fence embossing folder to dress it up a bit.

Simon Says Monday is all about touchy feeling.  Who can resist rubbing their fingers over embossing and glitter?

Camp Create Day 4

It’s day four.  Camp is going by fast.  I’m having a lot of fun.  Today we learned how to slide.  I used a butterfly from MFT>  By cutting it twice, once out of cardstock and once out of shimmery vellum it took on a really nice look.  On the purple cardstock piece of butterfly i used a swiss dot embossing folder for some texture The sentiment is from Essential Sentiments stamped onto a die cut label die from Blueprints #5.

Besides entering this into camp I am also entering into Simon’s Monday Challenge to be touchy feeling.   what is more touchy than a slider card? You just have to slide it.

20170616_141357 (583x800)

a bit different

The MFT sketch challenge is really a nice one.  I like the different shapes used in the sketch.  I used one of the MFT stitched border dies to cut the tag with.  I did stamp surgery on this small MFT sentiment die from Essential Sentiments set. It needed stacking instead of straigh horizontal.  I think the image is Penny Black.  I’m in a water coloring mood these days and enjoying that process.

Create Stamp Camp Day 3

I’m no expert at shaker cards but this video using fun foam looked pretty easy.  Well…….i still think it takes practice.  It took me a LONG time to get this done.  My foam wasn’t centered, i already had adhered it.  I first adhered the wrong panel to the foam, one of those kinds of cards.  You know what I mean.  LOL!  Nyah-Nyah

It’s worth trying again though and being a bit more careful in the foam .cutting and centering.

Anyway, Camp is about learning and that’s what i did in the process so it’s all good.

I used my MFT stitched circle dies to create the windows.  For the Porthole I used a circle die from one of the blueprints and a smaller circle die to cut the “hole” part of it.

Day 3 of Camp Was Spectacular Shakers

Camp day 2

Emboss resist!  Wow, it’s always been a favorite technique since the first time i saw the magic of it.  Stephanie from MFT just upped it a notched when she told us about doing woodgrain.  OMW….i love how this turned out.  I used water color paper and WOW white embossing powder of Memories White pigment ink for a nice bright white.  Then as Stephanie told us, i used Pumice Stone distress ink over the embossing.  It just really makes the grain unique.  I’m always in need of Sympathy cards and thought this would be the perfect background to hold some Wild Flowers from MFT.  I also followed Stephanies lead and smudged distress inks onto plain white cardstock and then cut my dies out of that for a very organic look.

Color It MFT and SSS embossing fun

I’m starting to really enjoy these color challenges.  I chose this sweet spring MFT stamp set.  I never really use her enough.  She’s so cute with her little flower offering.  I pulled out my Ranger spray tool and misted the plum color onto the main cardstock piece to give it a little bit of interest. The rest is made from scraps.  Since Simon’s Wednesday Challenge is to Emboss it, I thought I would go ahead and dry emboss that plum piece with a Paper Studion embossing folder.  I gave her a little tag from one of the blueprints to hold by masking one of the sentiments in the set.  A little wink of stella on the flowers and she’s ready to greet someone.

MFT stamp camp

Hard to believe it’s time for Stamp Camp already.  I was just looking at some files on my computer and can hardly take in that some of those cards are three years ago already.
Camp today is all about water color.  I chose this purple and blue water color background to hold my MFT Fancy Flowers.  I do so have fun with this set.  So many stamps, so little time, seems to be my summer mantra.
Thanks for stopping by.  I’m entering this into the “homework” section at MFT and also Simon's Wednesday Challenge to Emboss it.

Shout out to guys

SSS Wednesday Challenge this week  is Make it Masculine.  I needed a one layer card to put in the mail and thought a patriotic theme this time of year would be well received.

I used my Tim Holtz stencils and some Bokeh Simon stencils to create a red white and blue background.  I stamped and masked this little guy and stenciled around him.  He seemed to want me to color him with my Tombow markers so I obliged.  That was it.  Easy as can be.  The sentiment is also a Tim Holtz creation.

Which way

Simon’s Monday Challenge this week is Masculine.  I pulled out my favorite masculine set from them that I own.  Love this weather vane.  Also wanted to use the interesting MFT Sketch Challenge from Wednesday and this all came together in a flash with just  couple of masculine papers.  The Ssentiment is MFT from Jungle Friends.

going in circles

IMG_9032 (771x800)Simon Monday challenge is all about circles.  I bought this provocraft die years ago and have barely used it.  It seemed the perfect time to pull it out.  I attached all the circles to a same colored square behind it to hold all the pieces and then cut around it.  My new little snail from Lawn Fawn seemed the perfect attachment.

inspired

Because I found a new blog to follow called Pickled Paper Designs; i also found a new inspiration challenge to take part in.  It’s called all the little things. My Simon June kit arrived and it had the perfect flower stamp to use for this IC.  Most of the elements are from the kit.  The Nuovo drops are really nice.

I liked the look of the cloth sitting on the table with the flowers laid on it.  I used a wide ribbon to get that effect. The touches of blue on the plates in the photo created the blue sentiment banner and the little scallop piece in the corner.

With Sympathy

The postman brought me some Unity fun this morning.  I had to ink this one up right away.  I loved the deep water line that my colors made on that full sheet of watercolor background.  For this one, i wanted that flower to stand out more and i took my gelato in yellow, smeared a bit on my craft mat and picked it up with a water brush and spread it around.  You can’t see it in the picture but this sheet of water color backgrounds i also spritzed with a shimmery Heidi Grace spray.  IRL it has a very pretty glow to it.  I wanted a bit of a different ribbon treatment for this, something that didn’t take away from the flower.  I cut a small rectangle hole and folded the ribbon back onto itself.

sigh….Altenew

IMG_9028 (800x613)Everytime I stamp with Altenew i am more in love with them.  Look how beautiful these turned out.  The leaves look so life like i actually had to touch them myself.  They are stamped flat.  These are not popped up.  I love the simplicity of this card and how easy it was to make with the MISTI.  I need another MISTI though to use for sentiments .  My back ground is another of those full  9 x 12 water color sheets that i spritzed with water and two Brusho colors and more water, dry and cut down to four card fronts,  such a soft look, i am in love with that technique.

Anything Goes-YAY

IMG_9027 (800x624)I wanted to try out those mirror image stamps.  It kind of worked.  You can’t tell on here because i cut them out.  I have a mirror image acrylic stamp from MFT and I didn’t think it gave a good enough impression to do this right on the face of a card as I’ve seen others do.  It was fine to be able to fussy cut this image because it does have rather simple lines.  I wanted a red, white, and blue summery type card.  I stamped and heat emobssed the coffee beans from Judith stick stamps for my own bling.  The papers and cups come from the Simon Says kit from a couple of months back.
