drink a smoothie

IMG_9437 (800x633)Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is all about food and drink.  I love summer smoothies made with berries and ice and protein powder.  This fun drink image  from Unity Stamps reminds me of smoothies.

MFT blueprint die and embossing folder make a nice background to hold these refreshments. the teeny sentiment is from a Kristina Werner set.

L is for Love in the ABC Christmas Card Challenge

IMG_9426 (643x800)L is for Love and doesn’t this just depict love and care.  I love this sweet scene from Whimsy Stamps. Playing in the ABC Christmas Card Challenge for Wednesday June 6.  So far I am staying caught up with my two cards per month.  Even if I haven’t been able to get them posted I have done all all the challenge suggestions.  Smile

Masculine Cards

My stash of guy cards got down to one!! That makes me a tad bit uncomfortable.  I used IMG_9423 (800x626)to make as I go through life but that got too hectic with so many birthdays all in one month.  It works so much better for me if i have a stash.  Simon’s Monday Challenge is TRANSPORT and I am featuring that card that I just made.  The others I have made this past week and am just getting them posted. This is surely my most difficult category to make but I am having fun with it.

humor me

IMG_9420 (691x800)This guy!! ha ha!  this is a really old Mark’s Finest Papers image that i had never used.  Look at that sentiment.  We just spent a weekend by lake MI and those Gulls, they just digest things really quickly, I guess.  ha ha.

For Simon’s Wednesday Challenge to Frame it.  He is framed by the dotted lines and the corner frame piece.  I ran my black marker over the MFT die to get a better imprint of the  piercing.

This worked out perfect for the guy I have in my mind.  Open-mouthed smile

Challenges:  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge

this bird

IMG_9417 (636x800)Frame it! is Simon’s Wednesday Challenge.  I’ve had this bird hanging around on my desk for three years now.  It was the very first image I colored with my InkTense pencils.  He turned out so bright i didn’t know what to do with him.  I need some masculine cards and thought this cheerful bird would fit the bill.  (pun intended)  I crack myself up!!  I framed him in black and doodles and that black corder piece that i ran through an embossing folder.

Challenges: Simon Says Wednesday

where does time go?

IMG_9421 (675x800)It’s summer here and that time moves along so quickly. I just got back from a wonderful reunion of two grade school friends in MI .  Forty Eight years have passed and we are still special friends.  I was gone six days though. It’s time to get creative again.  Simon’s Wednesday Challenge is to Frame It.  I don’t know who’s die this is, I think, Penny Black.  I cut it out and then cut the corners of the frame piece with my scallop scissors to round them.  Placed the die cut back into the frame and placed it onto this stamped background of flowers from Unity.  I used Distress Crayons for the water color effect.

Hot Dog

Yep, hot dog!! We have a tradition at our home where we kick off Memorial Day and Fourth of July with the all American hot dog.  Yep, with fresh chopped onions and mustard and ketchup.  Yum.  We choose Nueske’s hot dogs because there is NO JUNK in them at all.  How do I know that?  My hubs is R & D for them for 38 years.  No JUNK allowed.

Here is a card that fits the occasion and also fits Simon’s Monday Challenge for a masculine card.  Thanks for stopping by.   Distressed edges and Tim Holtz mini crazy dogs.  so adorable.  LOL

Rose Gold

It’s difficult to tell on here and the photo quality is lacking.  This is black cardstock with home made rose gold embossing powder.  I saw a video where GKD rose gold was used and I hope to purchase some but in the mean time, what to do.  I had some Ranger Queens Gold  EP and also some Stampin Up Blushing Bride EP.  In a spare jar i just mixed equal parts and came up with this gorgeous rose gold color for myself.  Embossed and then colored with prisma and gamsol.  I love love love the look.  In real life those gold splotches are a coppery color but they look awful on here, much softer IRL.  I am enterening this in Simon’s Wednesday challenge to use more than one stamp.   I have the GKD flowers and the sentiment also embossed in my own rose/gold.  Thank you for stopping by.  Hope you enjoyed your holiday.                                                                                IMG_9375 (664x800)

catching up with Christmas 2

My plan has been to make double cards for each of the challenges.  I did seven cards today while i was playing catch up for the ABC Christmas Challenge.  Yep, I forgot to make one of them double and had all my stamps cleaned and put away before I remembered.  Here is second card for the current challenge K is for keep it simple. Yes, the whites are off but I had to open a new pack of cardstock and the dye lot had a little bit of ivory to it.  It says white on the pack but it looks ivory to me.  sigh.  it’s going to be sent as is anyway.  Most people won’t notice.  LOL

Unity Feathers

Ahhh…stamping time.  I have been surrounded by people since May 1.  Friend Angie sent me this sweet itty bitty Unity stamp and I could hardly wait to play with it.  She sent to another friend also and the three of us each created 2 cards to showcase to one another to give ideas how to maximize one stamp.  It was such a fun thing to do and so interesting to see what others come up with with the same image. the Thank you card is inlaid with the pink Thanks.  such a cool technique for mailing. I used foam tape to mount the front panel.  I will definitely be using their ideas also.

I actually made three as one is a thank you for her to receive for sending such sweetness.  Now, usually she doesn’t read my blog each post, and maybe I will get away with posting it here and she won’t read it until after she receives her card.   Since this is a thank you post, I will include the card I made using the stamp that friend JoAnn sent me.  A sweet little hydrangea set by recollections.

One stencil 3 ways #3

Both the Simon Says Challenges this week are for using a stencil.  I watched Vicky Papaioannou’s video on her blog.  One stencil three ways and decided to CASE her techniques.

Here is my third one using Paper Plus Sheer Gold Glaze and Heidi Swapp mask stencil. It wasn’t as clean of lines as i had hoped for but i didn’t use adhesive to hold down the mask.  I still like the organic look of it.  I loved the outcome.  Thanks for stopping by.  Your comments are always encouraging to read. Showing all three, entering the large one.

doodle

sometimes a little doodling can be fun.   Simon’s monday challenge is to doodle a little or a lot.  i’m so not into zentangle so my doodling is in the form a few lines scratched on the outside edge.  Thanks for coming by.

Lets sparkle

It’s a challenge to get back into the challenges.  Smile  Just taking the time to visit blogs seems like a big step after not feeling well for far too long.  I was inspired by the Altenew blog hop though and then that let me peek at the Simon challenge again.  Here’s my entry for the Wednesday Challenge at Simon.  This was a very challenging card to make and happened quite by accident but I love the shimmer of the glitter pressed onto a die cut run through with Sukwoong adhesive paper.  Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Fancy Flowers sketch

Wow, it’s been over a month since I blog posted.  Life does that to a person.  I have made a few cards and have been loading them to FB and IG.  I almost forgot how to get into this blog.  Goodness

It’s remedied today with this card made for the My Favortie Things Sketch Challenge this week.  #MFTWSC381

All products used are from MFT except the Prisma Colors  and Nuvo drops. I used the border dies to create the cross stitch look around the edges, you know, just to be all on trend  and such.  the top panel is popped up with fun foam for dimension.

An all around fun card.  Thanks for stopping by.

the world of sharing

i love the stamping world that shares so much.  I especially appreciate those who take the time to put detailed videos up.  Vicky papaioannou is one of my favorite people to watch.  Here’s a link to the video she did using one stencil five ways.  This looked like such a fun project I grabbed my Hero Arts stencil, pastes, sponges, inks and CASED her projects.  I didn’t copy them exactly but I was glad for the ideas she gave for using these beautiful stencils.  I have lots of stencils and I forget to use them.  Watch for some cards coming up using my metal stencils.  I think I still have a light box somewhere.  I made six cards with this stencil and they all look different.  I was surprised how well the Kraft fit in with this elegant design.

With Love

A sentiment like this can be pretty generic.  It can be used for Valentines day, sent to a good friend, an anniversary card, get well….you can’t go wrong with love.

Simon’s Wednesday Challenge is to be feminine and this sweet fairy fits the bill completely. Still using the same Hero Arts stencil I used only half of it and covered it with Ranger Antique Gold embossing paste.  I had no idea what I was going to do with it but this simple card just fell together.  Love it when that happens.  When I first placed the fairy on it looked okay but a bit plain.  I masked off the gold part and used Heidi Swapp gold glimmer spray ink and some black marble spray by Ranger to add drops of contrast color to the white portion.  Just the touch it needed.  Thanks for stopping by.  I mean it.  Hero Arts sentiment and MFT sentiment banner.
